4. Everything Matters Equally

  • Equality is a lie.
  • Busyness rarely takes care of business.

  • How do you decide what matters most at any given moment on any given day?

5. Multitasking

  • Multitaskers were just lousy at everything.Juggling isn't multitasking. Task Switching.
  • You can do two things at once, but you can't focus effectively on two things at once.
  • Multitasking slows us down and makes us slower witted.
  • Figure out what matters most in the moment and give it your undivided attention.

6. A Disciplined Life

  • We don't need any more discipline than we already have.
  • Success is actually a short race.
  • Actually, we need the habit of doing it. And we need just enough discipline to build  the habit.
  • Success is about doing the right thing, not about everything right.
  • Habits require much less energy and effort to maintain than to begin.
  • The hard stuff becomes habit, and habit makes the hard stuff easy.
  • How long does it take to establish a new habit? It takes an average of 66 days to acquire a new habit.

7. Willpower is always on Will-Call

  • Timing: other equally essential element of willpower.
  • The power of will. I didn't always have willpower.
  • The maeshmallow Test.
  • Willpower is a timing issue.
  • Willpower has a limited battery life. It's a limited but renewable resource.
  • Willpower is like a fast-twitch muscle that gets tired and needs rest.
  • We lose our willpower not because we think about it but because we don't.
  • How do you put your willpower to work? You think about it. You pay attention to it. Respect it.
  • Don't fight your willpower. Build your days around how it works and let it do its part to build your life.

8. A Balanced Life

  • Time on one thing means time away from another. This makes balance impossible.
  • Magic happens at the extreme.
  • The things we presume to have balance are really just counterbalancing.
  • Counterbalancing done well gives the illusion of balance.
  • The idea of counterbalancing is that you never go so far that you can't find your way back or stay so long that there are nothing waiting for you when you return.
  • Life: juggling five balls: work, family, health, friends, and integrity (Work = rubber ball)

9. Big is Bad

  • No one knows their ultimate ceiling
  • Thinking big is essential to extraordinary results. Success requires action, and action requires thought. the only actions that become springboards to succeeding big are those informed by big thinking to begin with.
  • What you do. in the time you work determines what you achieve.
  • Every level of achievement requires its own combination of What you do, How you do it, and who you do it with.
  • As you experience big, you become big. Why thinking big is such a big deal.
  • Don't fear big. Fear mediocrity. Fear waste. Fear the lack of living to your fullest.

  • Clarity must come from us.

  • People do not decide their futures, they decide their habits and their habits decide their futures.
  • You ask a great question, then you seek our a great answer.
    • 1. To search for clues and role models to point you in the right direction. You uncover the best research and study the highest achievers.
    • 2. Trending: You are looking for the next thing you can do in the same direction that the best performers are heading or, if necessary, in an entirely new direction.

13. Live with Purpose

  • Live with Purpose, Live by Priority. Live for productivity.
  • Our purpose sets our priority and our priority determines the productivity our actions produce.
  • Happiness on purpose. Happiness doesn't happen the way we think.: The begging bowl. (Unfulfillable desire.)
  • Happiness happens on the way to fulfillment.

  • Without purpose, you will never know when you have enough money, and you can never be financially wealthy.

  • What type of time-managing system do you use? What kind of system do you use?

  • They don't fear reality. They seek it, acknowledge it, and own it.
  • Find an accountability partner

  • Seek teachers and coaches.

17. The Four Thieves

  • 4 Thieves of productivity
    • Inability to say No
    • Fear of Chaos
    • Poor health habits
    • Environment doesn't support your goals.
  • Steve Jobs: 350 products to 10 (No man)
  • But the key to failure is trying to please everybody.
  • Get used to it and get over it. Figure it out. Find a way. Make it happen.

18. The Journey

  • Actions build on action. Habits build on habit. Success builds on success.
  • You have to make it happen.
  • The battle inside us: Fear and Faith (Don't regret)
  • Living a life of no regrets.
  • You are the first domino.
